Invitation to Guided Practice
We will be offering a weekly guided practice of the Daily Examen on Zoom each Wednesday from 10:00-10:30 a.m. starting on Ash Wednesday (March 5) and ending on Holy Week (April 16). You can share the below link with your congregation or simply come for your own guided time with God. Each 30-minute session will be structured with a two-minute introduction and orientation to the Daily Examen, 10-12 minutes of prayer, and then 15 minutes for group reflection in pairs or as a group.

How can you and your congregation grow
closer and more attentive to Christ this Lent?
An ancient prayer practice may help.
As Lent approaches, we at the Duke Clergy Health Initiative wanted to resource you, our clergy partners in ministry, with research-backed practices for deepening your and your congregation's spiritual well-being. Out of all the options in our well-being toolkit, we chose the Daily Examen for its compatibility with a liturgical season of self-reflection and repentance.
Not familiar with the Daily Examen? The Daily Examen is a method of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to name and notice where God has been present and to discern God's direction anew. It is a simple but powerful prayer practiced regularly (often daily!) by Jesuit clergy for over 500 years. But, really, anyone can use it to more closely align their lives with God's.
With this resource, you’ll find everything you need to sustain a daily or weekly Lenten practice for yourself or your congregation. You might introduce it to your staff, Bible study leaders, or your clergy covenant group. Even children and youth can do it.
